They are intentional. The three evenly curved slits in the tip are cut at the factory so that the tip can flex. Leads may be standardised, but they are subject to manufacturing tolerances; for a lead neither to jam nor to sit too loosely, some component has to take up that tolerance. In metalworking a slotted, springy sleeve end is the usual solution. The fact that several examples of the 372 show the same regular pattern of slits confirms that this is a design feature and not a fracture.
A tip would be genuinely damaged if the cracks ran irregularly, extended into the barrel, or if the segments splayed apart and could be bent. As long as the lead is advanced cleanly and held firmly and the tip runs true, nothing needs doing. On an otherwise as-new piece, replacing the tip is neither necessary nor value-enhancing; if anything it detracts from originality.
