The blue speckled outer box is not tied to any one model. Through the 1980s and the early 1990s it was the standard packaging in which every Meisterstück was delivered, from the ballpoint to the large piston filler. Neither a particular model nor a catalogue number can therefore be deduced from the box alone.
It does allow one conclusion all the same, and that concerns the period: a pen found in this packaging points to a delivery within those years, provided box and contents demonstrably belong together. Conversely, the right box is no proof of authenticity, since packaging is often passed on separately and later paired up with whatever comes to hand.
Empty boxes are indeed traded, but on their own they fetch very little. They add to value chiefly as part of a complete set of pen, box, outer carton and papers; such a set reliably makes more than the sum of its parts.
