For 2011 Montblanc announced four editions: the Writers Edition Carlo Collodi, the Patron of Art Edition Gaius Maecenas, a Character Edition devoted to Alfred Hitchcock and a Special Edition devoted to Grace Kelly. The Collodi takes up motifs from Pinocchio and is finished in a yellowish green; its clip is modelled on the shape of a knife.

One claim about the Writers Edition George Bernard Shaw stubbornly refuses to die, namely that the star in the cap top is made of mother-of-pearl. It is not: the star is not mother-of-pearl but merely set off in beige to ivory, which is easily mistaken for a pearly sheen in product photographs. Anyone examining an example should therefore go by the numbering, the engraving and the certificate rather than by the colour effect.

For individual editions Montblanc brought out matching inks; for the Mahatma Gandhi edition, for instance, there was an ink of its own, which reached the boutiques only in limited numbers. The editions themselves each appeared as a fountain pen, a rollerball and a ballpoint, so that sets of three could be put together.
