On the Solitaire Stainless Steel variants, differently produced rings occur, which often look sandblasted or powder-coated and often appear somewhat darker than the rest of the body. If the other original features (star form, laser engraving, clip, Pix embossing) are correct, that points to an authentic piece. A reliable judgement requires high-resolution detail photos of the ring section in question.

Hello.
I don\'t read or write German, I am sorry to say, but I am doing this through Altavista Babel.
Hopefully, someone can reply in English.
Managed to get my hand on a doue. It looks authentic, with all the tips I checked here and on fountainpen.de.
However, it appears to have grey rings around the pen, but other than it it looks authentic. I suspect it is one of the early ones. What\'s the opinion?
PS forgot to mention, germany and serial numbers on ring of the clip and there is pix under the clip with R but no Germany. - megapenfreak

for me this pen seems to be original. The rings are usually a bit darker compared to the rest of the pen ... but on the photo is quite small, may be you only post a photo with this detail.

It does look original in terms of all the right things I have mentioned.
Sorry about the photos.. I tried to load three different pictures but it seems it was only loading the first one.
I have seen on a lot of websites that the ring should be steel as well, but it seems the grey rings are powder coated or something.

I have seen several versions of the rings already, usually they are somewhat "Powder coated" or let\'s say sandblasted (?) .. but these rings look a bit dark in colour compared to the pens I have seen so far. But all other features seem to be original.
To be honest I belive that it\'s a original one, but to be sure you should go to your local Montblanc dealer and show the pen to him. Or may be you could contact Montblanc directly by using the contact form on their website...

The rings are darker in the picture then in real life. To be honest I do think it is a real MB.
