The Jinhao 100 is frequently sold with the additions “Celebry” or “Centennial” and comes in several finishes, among them red/white — also known as “Koi” — and Black/Pearl. It is a cartridge pen, supplied from the factory with a Jinhao converter.
The gold-plated nib in M is close in shape and writing behaviour to a Bock 250 Triple, and such a nib can also be screwed into the Jinhao 100 without trouble, which makes moving to another nib width easy. Accessories call for care: Jinhao cartridges and converters have a size and an opening of their own. They will not fit pens that take standard cartridges, and conversely standard cartridges and converters cannot be used in the Jinhao 100.
Collectors rate the build quality as surprisingly good (as at 2021): nib and feed deliver ink to the paper evenly, the nib does not scratch and sits firmly, and nothing wobbles. Older Chinese pens, by contrast, had a reputation for writing acceptably but feeling cheaply made — manufacturing quality has improved markedly over the years.
