The stoneless Bohème — the version without a gemstone in the clip — was always a standalone model in the small basic size. It was never made as a MidSize, and no matching ballpoint or propelling pencil was produced for it, so a three-piece set does not exist in this version. According to the trade, the stoneless Bohème was already out of production by around 2008, and the MidSize fountain pens with a stone in the clip had been discontinued by then as well. The BigSize Bohème was always sold as a fountain pen on its own, available only with platinum-plated trim, and no companion pieces were ever planned for it.
The claim that Montblanc forbids its dealers to give any discount is untrue. The published prices are recommended retail prices; a manufacturer may not dictate the selling prices of independent retailers. Whether a discount is granted, and how large it is, is therefore up to the individual shop.
When buying over the internet, though, it is worth checking whether the seller is an authorised dealer. Unauthorised sellers cannot issue valid guarantee certificates, their promises of warranty cover are worth correspondingly little, and the provenance of the goods is often impossible to trace. A discount of twenty per cent or more is not in itself proof of a fake, but it is good reason to ask searching questions about where the pen came from and how a warranty claim would be handled.
