Which nib stamping is genuine on a Montblanc Writers Edition, and which inscription gives a fake away?

The nibs of the Writers Editions always bear the 4810, the designation 18 KT and the year from which the edition dates, for example 1999. Montblanc, by contrast, does not inscribe nibs with IRIDIUM POINT; a stamped PARIS, too, is a pure invention of the makers of copies. Either one of these two inscriptions is enough on its own to identify a fake.

In the case of the F. Scott Fitzgerald there is the additional point that the nib of the copy is not platinised and altogether bears a completely different stamping from the original; the comparison with the illustration in the accompanying booklet makes this immediately clear. Nibs of this make with exactly this stamping are also found on copies of other Montblanc models, so that the feature is of use beyond the Writers Edition.
