The special issues announced for 2014 were a Patron of Arts edition devoted to Henry E. Steinway, founder of the piano-making firm of the same name, and a Writers Edition devoted to Daniel Defoe. To these were added a large-format fountain pen bearing the name Goliath from the Heritage line with its reference year of 1914, to be issued in 333 red and 1,000 black examples, and a Skeleton edition marking ninety years of the Meisterstück, which had been introduced in 1924. The regular range included, among other things, a Meisterstück with red gold trim, a StarWalker with mother-of-pearl and a StarWalker with a stylus for tablets.
Yearly overviews of this sort come from advance information circulating months before delivery and are to be read with reservations until the official launch; limitation sizes, specification and prices are confirmed only then, and pictures usually appear in the spring of the edition year. To assign a particular piece, therefore, the engraving, the limitation number and the certificate remain what count.
