The Meisterstück Solitaire Silver Barley joined the collection in 2009. Its defining feature is a fine, barley-like guilloche on sterling silver whose pattern recalls the Mammut Solitaire of 2006, together with a mother-of-pearl star in the cap top. What made the series notable above all was that it brought the first ballpoint in the larger LeGrand size to be offered in precious metal. A LeGrand rollerball in precious metal had existed before, but no corresponding ballpoint.
On its introduction the range was priced at the upper end of the regular collection: the fountain pen cost 1,950 euros at the time, the LeGrand ballpoint 950 euros. As it is not a limited edition, neither production figures nor an end of production were published. On the second-hand market the value of silver models of this kind depends heavily on the state of the surface, because scratches in the fine guilloche are almost impossible to remove and, while tarnished silver can be cleaned, the recesses of the pattern stay dark.
