Removal of the engraving itself is not possible on modern writing instruments, since the material consists of synthetic resin and cannot be filled without visible traces. Only two ways are practical: first, the inserted colour within the engraving can be removed so it looks more inconspicuous; second, on comparatively new pieces, the engraved part can be exchanged within the service flat fee at Montblanc, although the reason for the complaint must be clearly formulated and an ungraved replacement component expressly requested.
