In the 2005 model year Montblanc let several lines run out. The burgundy Classique writing instruments, despite rumours to the contrary, remained available: the 145 fountain pen in the nib widths EF, F, M, B, BB, OM, OB and OBB, the 163 rollerball, the 164 ballpoint and the 165 pencil with a 0.5 or 0.7 millimetre mechanism. What did go were the LeGrand and the Mozart in burgundy. The 149, the Traveller 147, the Document Marker 166 and the Sketch Pen 169 stayed in the range with gold-plated trim only; platinum-plated versions were not planned.
Among the Meisterstück Solitaire, production ended for the Hematite models and for the Mozart versions in sterling silver, sterling silver Doué, vermeil and vermeil Doué; only Doué Royal and Coral survived there. Also discontinued were the gold-plated Solitaire with thread guilloche and its Doué variant, formerly in vermeil and latterly in gold-plated brass, along with the Pure Silver series.
New was the Solitaire Gold&Black, gold-plated with a black lacquer inlay, as a LeGrand and a Classique fountain pen and as a ballpoint, pencil and rollerball, each also in a Doué version. It was joined by the Fibre Guilloche series with a silver cap and inlaid fibreglass strips on a plain silver barrel, though without a LeGrand fountain pen. In the Bohème range came the Doué Goldplated with a matt black body in a golf-ball finish and the Lacquer Pearl, both as fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball, plus the Bohème Vert with platinum-plated instead of gold-plated trim as a one-off run that could not be reordered.
