Montblanc significantly changed the format of the 146 in 2000 and designed the model clearly larger or thicker, which was also officially advertised. Bordeaux 146s from older production are therefore actually smaller than the later black models and not identical in construction, which explains in particular the non-interchangeability of the caps. There is thus no defect or counterfeit feature but merely a design change between the production periods.
