According to Collectible Stars by Jens Rösler and Stefan Wallrafen, the Montblanc 1646 was made from 1971 to 1973; it has a push mechanism, a matt-black plastic barrel with silver-plated tip, a matt-silver-plated cap as well as silver-plated clip and push head with a lead thickness of 0.92 mm. Today the model is fairly rare, since many examples were used until final wear. Near-new pieces achieve up to a maximum of about 100 euros and count primarily as a supplement to fountain pen and ballpoint, otherwise as a good utility writing instrument.
