A slim, fully gold-plated twist ballpoint by Montblanc will as a rule come from the Noblesse line and not from the Meisterstück line; what settles the attribution above all is the shape of the clip. The body is brass with a rather thin layer of gold plating, which marks very easily and on used pieces often appears worn through at the clip, the cap rim and the middle of the barrel. Such wear follows from the way the pen is made and is no indication of a fake.

The Noblesse was built in several successive series, at least three of them, differing in clip, cap ring and proportions. Which series a given piece belongs to can only be established by close comparison with documented examples; this attribution matters more to collectors than to the pen's usefulness. In none of its versions is the Noblesse a Meisterstück; the line was positioned as slimmer and less expensive.
