The clip of this Donation Pen is modelled on a piano key. A black element is set onto the silver-coloured body of the clip and takes up roughly sixty per cent of its length. This element is the same height along its whole length; it is cut off square towards the cap top and tapers away at an angle towards the lower end of the clip. An additional raised portion, a distinct step or an edge at the upper end forms no part of the design.

On a pen of this class a noticeably rough or sharp-edged spot is a manufacturing defect, not a design feature. The proper route here is through the dealer, who will handle the complaint under the guarantee; comparison with a second example from the same edition will show reliably whether something is amiss. On no account should you work on sharp edges yourself, since any alteration to the clip or cap substantially reduces the collector value of a limited edition.
