To mark the anniversary of the Meisterstück, introduced in 1924, Montblanc brought out several special models in 1999. The Special Anniversary Edition was not limited, but was made in 1999 alone and is therefore defined solely by its production period. Alongside it came the Limited Anniversary 1924 in an edition of 1,924 pieces, a figure pointing to the year the Meisterstück was introduced. The smallest and rarest version is the Limited Anniversary 75, at just 75 pieces, taking up the number of years being celebrated.

According to collectors, the 1924 series comprised not only writing instruments but also watches and leather goods, so that whole sets could be put together. Because of the small numbers involved, particularly in the edition of 75, the limited versions surface on the collectors' market only rarely, and reliable price series can hardly be compiled for them. The unlimited Special Anniversary Edition, having no set edition size, is likely to be met with more often, but is just as clearly delimited by its single production year of 1999.
