Who made the plain, brushed-matt two-colour twist ballpoint that Montblanc sold in the 1980s?

This inexpensive brushed-matt two-colour twist ballpoint was part of the Montblanc range from the early to the middle 1980s, but it was not made in-house; it came from an outside supplier. It belongs, then, not among the Meisterstück pens but among the plain everyday writing instruments Montblanc still carried before it repositioned itself as a luxury brand. That also explains why it scarcely appears in the model listings collectors normally use.

When Montblanc pared the range back to the Meisterstück lines, the machinery was sold to Lamy. Lamy went on making the same two-colour ballpoint with an unbrushed stainless steel body until after 2000; its final selling price there was under 20 euros. For the Montblanc version this means that it is an interesting document of the company's product history but not a sought-after collector's piece, and its market value is correspondingly low.
