Are Montblanc leather goods and accessories such as cufflinks faked as well as writing instruments?

Yes. As early as the mid-2000s the brand's leather items were being copied in large numbers and offered through auction sites, bags as much as small leather goods. At the same time, Chinese-made replicas of the Solitaire cufflinks reached the market, mostly through commercial sellers based abroad. Those pieces were still comparatively easy to spot from the standard of finish, the feel of the materials and the imprecise engraving.

The same approach applies as with writing instruments: a version for which no counterpart can be found in the range of the day gives itself away. Occasionally whole product groups turned up under the Montblanc name, gloves among them, that the firm never offered at all.
