As early as 2005, copies of this watch were good enough to pass unnoticed in photographs; the crown was reproduced almost faithfully. What still gave them away was the engraving on the side of the case, which differs from the original in lettering and execution.
A second line of attack follows from the construction: in a skeleton watch the movement is exposed. Comparing the visible mechanism with photographs of an original reveals discrepancies that are harder to disguise than those of the case. This version is therefore more difficult to fake than a watch with a solid dial.
