The Collection Madame was a Montblanc line designed specifically for women. The ballpoint of this collection carries the model number 945 and was made from 1971 to 1975. The number is usually not on the pen itself but only on the original packaging, which makes identification difficult without the box.

The model is described and illustrated in the standard work “Collectible Stars”, which covers Montblanc's writing instruments of the post-war decades. There are two reasons why little else can be found on it: pens for women long stood in the shadow of collector interest, and the pieces of the Collection Madame were everyday objects, used rather than put away. They turn up comparatively seldom in the trade as a result, without that making them high-priced rarities.
