It is the Pelikan Special Edition for the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, usually listed in collectors' catalogues simply as the Kuala Lumpur. The pen appeared worldwide in a run of 888 pieces and is recorded not among the Limited Editions but among the Special Editions.

What marks it out is the richly decorated finish with floral ornament, which at first glance recalls the Toledo models without belonging to that range. Despite the small run the model was never in strong demand on the collectors' market, which those who know the field put down to the little-sought subject; examples accordingly turn up now and then outside the specialist trade.
