Montblanc runs no factory outlet in the true sense; there is no factory shop at the Hamburg site open to the general public. At times individual boutiques have held special end-of-year sales, to which customers were invited personally.

Negotiating in the boutiques, on the other hand, is certainly possible, above all on stock that has been sitting in the shop for a long time. Older editions still in the display case years after their release are, in practice, more likely to be let go at a discount; in 2005, for instance, pieces from the 1924 edition launched in 1999 could still be had at a substantial reduction. With current releases and sought-after Limited Editions there is far less room for movement.

There is also an internal sales channel that turns up on accompanying paperwork as a “special operation for special stock”. Exactly what lies behind it has never been fully established; the obvious guess is that it handles surplus stock, items withdrawn from the collection and corporate business. Private customers have no access to this channel, and it has nothing to do with special sales to end users.
