The Patron of Arts Edition of the 2004 series honours the banker and art patron J. P. Morgan. It was officially presented in the spring of 2004, and from April 2004 it was available through Montblanc specialist retailers.

The barrel is made of 925 sterling silver and corresponds in size roughly to a Meisterstück 146. The defining design feature is the cap with its lattice of silver and carbon, which creates a three-dimensional sense of depth and produces a considerably stronger contrast than the familiar carbon Meisterstück pens. As already on the Copernicus, the star is made of mother-of-pearl; the clip is strikingly plain, almost purist in character. Like all fountain pens in the Patron of Arts series, the J. P. Morgan carries an 18-carat gold nib.

The edition size of the regular version is 4,810 pieces. Alongside it, a series limited to 888 pieces is issued.
