The first Montblanc umbrella was in black and white, the colour alternating from rib to rib; it had a white, angular plastic handle. It was issued in 1992 in Berlin to the visitors of the international presentation of the New Dimensions line.
The second umbrella was entirely black and executed to a far higher standard. It was put into use in the boutiques in 2001: customers who had forgotten their own umbrella in the rain could borrow it and were in fact supposed to hand it back. Both umbrellas have therefore reached collectors' hands only in small numbers.
