In 2004 the offering at the Cologne collectors' meeting covered above all the high-price segment. Alongside many old writing instruments there was an abundant range of new goods from Montblanc, Pelikan, Montegrappa, Parker, Omas and Bexley, that is, from practically all the manufacturers offering goods in the upper price range. Individual exhibitors have specialised in particular brands, so that it is worth first gaining an overview and then making for individual tables in a targeted manner.

The prospects are markedly worse for collectors of German everyday brands. Rare writing instruments by Geha or Heiko were not to be discovered at the meeting; specific enquiries after Heiko fountain pens were met with something of a smile from the vendors. Anyone who collects such brands will therefore scarcely find what he is looking for at the large international meetings and must turn to other sources of supply.
