No. The Sketch Pen with the model number 169, also sold in the trade as the Leonardo, is the large clutch pencil of the Meisterstück range and, like the 149 fountain pen, is built exclusively with gold-plated trim. Montblanc never offered a platinum-plated or silver-coloured version.
Anyone after a lead holder of comparable quality with a thick lead will find one at other houses, but usually has to accept less girth. Aurora offers short, thicker pencils in coloured marbled Auroloid, though again with gold-plated trim. From Lamy comes the Scribble in the firm's spare house style, likewise with a thick clutch lead. Bexley of Ohio builds the Multipen, which also takes ballpoint refills and is available in black with chrome trim among other finishes. Faber-Castell once issued a clutch pencil in solid sterling silver as a limited edition. To these can be added the Gessner from Cleo Skribent as well as clutch pencils from Wörther and from Stefan Fink's workshop.
Whether any of these alternatives is genuinely a match for the 169 is something collectors judge differently. The one regarded above all as a serious rival, and one with silver-coloured trim at that, is Delta's Dolce Vita Stout.
