What is known about the individual Mario Barth Limited Edition by Montblanc, and why does the official product picture show deviations?

Montblanc Limited Editions FAQ entry

Mario Barth had, as one of the first private customers, a tailor-made 1/1 edition made by the Artisan Studio; the piece was seen in the studio before completion together with brass samples and contains a diamond in the form of the Montblanc star on the cap. The final version is in white gold, while the photo depicted on the Montblanc website apparently shows a master sample in yellow gold with a white-gold nib — a material combination that was not used in the final piece. Barth received his copy at a preferential price; subsequent individual editions are, according to statements from the manufactory, considerably more expensive.
