Over the years Montblanc has carried numerous leather cases in different lines, among them two- and three-pen cases that will take two writing instruments of LeGrand size without difficulty. For a pair consisting of a fountain pen and a push-button pencil the Sienna series was long the classic choice, and the Florence line was popular too. Both series were taken out of the range, but could still be had from specialist dealers as residual stock for a considerable time afterwards; it is therefore worth asking even when the current catalogue no longer lists them.
One detail for collectors: on the older cases the star was set on a gold ground, on the more recent ones only platinum-plated. Anyone wanting trim to match the pen already owned should look at this before buying. In price the leather cases started at about 75 euros in 2006, with no upper limit for the more elaborate versions. Since the compartments are cut to different widths from series to series, it is in any event advisable to try the case at the dealer's with your own pen.
