The Rouge-et-Noir leather case is one of those promotional items which in workmanship and appearance come close to a regular Montblanc product. It was never sold on the open market: the specialist dealer presented it to particularly good customers on the purchase of a new writing instrument, usually a Meisterstück 146 LeGrand. Besides the case, the package included specially designed Rouge-et-Noir packaging and a special service guide devoted to the company's history and to the Rouge-et-Noir safety pens that were popular in earlier years.
The case itself is made of soft cowhide and bears a red stripe on the side, which takes up the colouring of the historical Rouge-et-Noir line. Because of the restricted issue it is only very rarely to be found today and is regarded among collectors as an insider's tip.
