The Christmas tins, officially called the "Santa Claus Box", are a classic Montblanc promotional item. Every year in December, employees, sales staff, specialist dealers and loyal customers receive a tin filled with chocolates or truffles. The motifs take up illustrations from the early days of the company. Specialist dealers were also able to order the tins empty and to fill them as they saw fit.
In the beginning there were various shapes, among them a tin in the form of a cap top, a round tin and two versions in upright format. Later a uniform shape was retained; the years documented include 1998 to 2004. Two sales promotion tins occupy a special place: each is filled with six deckle-edged cards bearing the same motif and has a deep-drawn insert for a Meisterstück 164 ballpoint pen, one of them for the Bordeaux version.
