The wall clock with the Montblanc lettering was presumably issued to specialist retailers as a promotional item in the middle of the 1950s, and exclusively to particularly good customers of the company. The case is made of sheet brass.

Technically it is a purely mains-operated device: the clock runs only on 220 to 240 volts and has neither battery operation nor a quartz movement. These features distinguish it from later reproductions and from modern promotional clocks. Among the Montblanc promotional items it is regarded as the most sought-after piece of all; its market value in 2005 was around 1,000 euros.
