No. Montblanc has confirmed on enquiry that Scenium pens were made for a time without the PIX stamp on the clip. That is remarkable in so far as the line only came on the market at the end of 2003, so the variation appeared within a few years of production starting. Two ballpoints of the same series bought one after the other can differ on this point without there being anything wrong with either.
The imprint “Germany Pix” on the clip is therefore no use as a sole test of authenticity, in either direction: it is missing on documented originals, and conversely imprints can be imitated by forgers. To judge a pen one should draw on the finish, the feel of the materials, the execution of the star, all the engravings and the mechanism, supplemented by the receipt and any accessories that have survived.
