writing instruments are always also a pieces "history of the time", so the writing instruments of the 1940s must also be seen against the background of a wartime economy of scarcity.

The nibs of fountain pens were partly no longer made of gold but are now crafted from steel (a few nibs were even produced from palladium). Clips and caps were partly taken from other series in order to be able to manufacture writing instruments at all.
