The 742 has a gold-plated barrel and cap with
a beautiful corn guilloche pattern.
The 742 Masterpiece is now relatively rare. Much more often
one finds the 642 Masterpiece instead. This is structurally identical, where
however only the cap is gold-plated.
The Masterpiece has a two-tone 14kt gold nib.
The
742 fountain pen is also available as a 14 kt solid gold
variant.
